I’m so excited to share that Africa In Our Kitchen will be an on-site vendor at this year’s Association of African-American Museums Conference in Riverside, California. The conference will be held at the Marriott Riverside Convention Center, 3400 Market St., August 3rd through the 5th.
I will introduce my new line of Africa In Our Kitchen Spice Blends and Tea. My hand mixed spice blends are used in many of the recipes posted on the Africa In Our Kitchen blog. I will also have available handcrafted baskets and tote bags imported from Senegal, west Africa.
These items will be available for purchase from the Africa In Our Kitchen website beginning in September 2016.
The Spice Blends and Tea basket feature the following items:
- Moroccan Spice Mix
- Tsire Spice Powder
- Creole Seasoning
- Low Country Boil Spice
- Jerk Dry Rub
- Hibiscus/Bissap/Sorrel Tea
I chose these spice blends as a small representation of some of the flavors of Africa and the African Diaspora. The Moroccan Spice Mix and Tsire (also known as Suya) Spice Powder – Africa, Creole Seasoning and Low Country Boil Spice – USA, and Adobo and Jerk Dry Rub – Caribbean.
Hibiscus Tea is known by many names in many countries around the world.
The Spice Blends and Tea are presented on a handcrafted, flat basket with a hand carved wooden spoon, and a full description of each spice and tea with suggested uses. Full recipes can be found on the Africa In Our Kitchen blog.
